ANACORTES, Wa. – Shelby’s Quest, the first app from Doodle Therapy Apps, is now available to download at a special introductory rate of $4.99 in the Apple App Store. Shelby’s Quest is a “choose your own adventure” game of fine motor and visual perceptual skills.

Shelby’s Quest (doodletherapyapps.com) is a feature rich app that aims to instill inspiration and enjoyment in education among children. This app, specially made for occupational therapists, teachers and parents, gives the child a fun way to practice fine motor and visual percpetual skills. Shelby’s Quest guides the child along a journey assisting Shelby the Dog as she helps her forest animal friends overcome their challenges. Set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, students will guide Skip the Salmon upstream to help him find his family, assist Samantha the Squirrel as she collects acorns and help Maurice the Moose find his way home.

Shelby’s Quest was designed with students with special needs in mind, such as developmental delay, fine motor delay, visual perceptual skills, autism/Asperger’s and Down Syndrome. “I’ve been using my iPad with my occupational therapy students since the first iPad was released,” said Kami Bible, OTR/L, MBA and founder of Doodle Therapy Apps. “I quickly realized how motivating it was for my students.” Shelby’s Quest features 3-games-in-one that focus on fine motor and visual perceptual skills which work on pinching, finger isolation, tracking and sorting. Other features include specialized tracking of child or student performance and progress for easy and quick documentation, the ability to track multiple student profiles and the ability to email reports from within the app.

The idea behind Shelby the Labradoodle, the lovable main character from the app, was inspired by the Bible Family’s own dog. Shelby has accompanied Kami to do therapy sessions at school and is in training to become a certified therapy dog. “I was amazed by how well my therapy students responded to Shelby. When we were brainstorming character ideas for an OT app, Shelby seemed like an obvious choice!”
